Enjoying
Your Big Island Vacation
Whether you are looking for some lazy vacation time on a sunny beach
or an active outdoor experience, fishing, hiking, snorkeling and surfing
the waves the Big Island has it all.
From the sunny beaches in Kailua-Kona and Waikoloa to the deep sea
fishing offered all over the island you are sure to find the entertainment
you are seeking on Hawaii. Our condo is right in the center of all
the fun. If you just feel like hanging out watching the whales, turtles
and dolphins you can do that right from your own lanai!
Many
of the condominium rentals available on the Big Island use the term
'oceanfront' very loosely, sometimes the complex is oceanfront but
the view is 'peek-a-boo'. Not so at the Banyan Tree Sunset where your
unit has 30' of oceanfront window and a lanai which is literally 30'
from the water. You are on the 3rd floor, so that those beautiful
Hawaii coconut trees aren't blocking your view of the breaching whales
and spinner dolphins, and what's more you can see right thru the waves
at the schools of fish and swimming turtles! The Banyan tree is also
near the famous Lyman Surf Break, and you will be continuously entertained
by the surfers antics! Maybe you'll even be brave enough to catch
a wave yourself! Check out the Amenities page for the condo, you will
be pleasantly surprised. We even have High-speed internet for those
of you who can't leave their work at home! There is also a little
convenience store, right across the street for those who really don't
want to leave!
Only 2
miles south at Keahou Bay are two world class golf courses and if
you'd like to book a snorkeling tour, several of the trips leave from
Keahou Bay. Go North 3 miles and you will find yourself strolling
the famous Kailua-Kona Ali'I Drive, where you will find many quaint
local restaurants and shops. For those young and young at heart the
night life on Ali'I Drive will keep you dancing! If your tastes run
to the more traditional, try the Keahou Veranda, where nearly nightly
you can listen to live Hawaiian music and sometimes see the young
at heart locals swaying in traditional Hawaiian Hula. A nice place
for a sunset & pu'pu's (hors de orves)
If you can only stay in Kailua-Kona a few days, don't try to see it
all. It's about a two hour drive straight thru to the Volcano's National
Park and that can be an all day experience. Don't expect to see molten
lava though, it takes a long walk or a helicopter for that, but it's
still an amazing place. If you only have a short time, take the Crater
Rim Rd and finish it off with the Thurston Lava Tube. You'll get a
little rainforest here too, and the tube walk is one of our favorites.
North of Kailua-Kona, near Waikoloa, are some wonderful beaches but
get there early or parking becomes difficult. We have boogie boards,
sand chairs and ice chests for your use in the condo. The afternoons
in this area can become very windy so plan for that. Maybe doing your
auto touring in the afternoons. There are many things to see on Hawaii,
we really like the book The Big Island Revealed 4th Edition
if you want to read up before your arrival. We have a copy of the
book for your use at the condo too.
We really want you to enjoy your stay at our oceanfront condo in Kailua-Kona
and if there is any way we can help you further, please don't hesitate
to e-mail or call us. We'd also love to hear your feedback!
